August 2024 – With the Summer Holidays finally here and many UK travellers jetting off abroad, award-winning airport parking company Airport Parking and Hotels (APH.com) has shared six top tips for holidaymakers looking to book affordable and reliable airport parking.

With a range of airport parking options to choose from including on-airport, off-airport and Meet and Greet (valet), it’s important to book the most suitable parking for your needs.

APH.com’s six top tips include:

  • Book in Advance to Save Money and Guarantee a Parking Space – the further in advance you book, the more affordable the prices tend to be and more availability on offer. Parking costs often increase the closer to your departure date and your chosen car park may even be full if travelling during peak holiday times. Booking more than two weeks in advance can reduce the cost by more than half compared to booking the day before or even on the departure day, so book as early as possible.
  • Shop Around for the Best Airport Parking Deals – Most airport parking companies will offer a loyalty discount to returning customers, and sometimes re-booking with a company you’ve used before can be the best option. Travellers should also check if customer loyalty schemes such as supermarkets or credit cards offer airport parking discounts or benefits, as some allow customers to convert shopping points into airport parking vouchers.
  • Check Customer Reviews – When booking airport parking, check customer reviews on independent websites such as Feefo and Trustpilot. This will provide up to date, genuine feedback from customers who have used the brand before. Things to look out for include friendliness of staff, frequency of transfers to and from the airport and how companies deal with complaints or problems.
  • Pick Safe and Secure Parking Facilities – Always book with an approved operator displaying the Park Mark, Safer Parking Award logo. This is a police-approved accolade presented to car parks that have measures in place to ensure the safety of people and vehicles meaning the car park is well-managed, secure and you can travel with peace of mind your car is parked with a trusted brand. The very best now have a Park Mark Plus badge, meaning they have the highest standards.
  • Choose the Right Airport Parking for Your Needs and Budget – If arriving at the airport as quickly as possible is a priority, then Meet and Greet parking is usually the best option allowing you to drive directly to the airport terminal to drop-off your car with a valet driver. However, if cost and avoiding driving into an unfamiliar airport is more important, off-airport Park and Ride parking can be the best choice and usually includes complimentary transfers.
  • Look for Flexible Bookings and Free Cancellation Policies – For travellers looking for extra reassurance in case their travel plans change unexpectedly, flexible bookings are a great option allowing for changes to be made or a full refund to be claimed if a booking is cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Nick Caunter, Managing Director of Airport Parking and Hotels (APH.com), said, “By planning ahead, savvy holidaymakers can find airport parking is an affordable, reliable and easy option to get to their flight. We always advise customers to do their research before booking, and we hope these tips will help ensure travellers book with a reliable company and receive high-quality service.”
