July 2024 – With the Euros now over, all eyes will be looking to the French Capital for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games starting in a few weeks’ time. However, did you know many of the sporting events will take place outside of Paris and some even as far as Tahiti in the South Pacific? Luckily, award-winning airport parking company APH.com has released a handy guide showing where all the events will take place across France and beyond, and the quickest route to fly from the UK.

Available at www.aph.com/parisolympics, the guide highlights which city and Olympic site will host sporting events including the closest arrival airport in France with a direct flight from the UK, making it easy for travellers to plan ahead.

Overall, just over half of the events will happen in the heart of Paris including beach volleyball, with the arena placed directly infront of the iconic Eiffel Tower, and popular sports such as basketball, athletics, road cycling and aquatics including diving, water polo and artistic swimming.

Most of the cycling events such as Mountain biking, BMX racing and track cycling will take place around 20 kilometres outside of Paris in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, located near Versailles. However, visitors will have to travel much further afield to watch the football competition which will be hosted in Marseille and Nice, both in the South of France, as well as Lyon, St-Etienne near Lyon, Bordeaux and Nantes.

For the sailing competition, visitors will have to head South again to the port of Marseille however surf enthusiastic travellers, will need to take a much longer flight to Teahupo’o in the Pacific Island of Tahiti to watch the world’s best surfers going for gold, known for its challenging waves and conditions.

This year, there will also be changes to the line-up with a new sport called Breaking, also known as breakdancing, making its debut in the Olympics for the first time. New events such as Kayak Cross involving a canoe slalom where athletes race against each other rather than the clock will also feature and Sport Climbing will return with new events including bouldering, lead combined and speed.

Nick Caunter, Managing Director of Airport Parking and Hotels (APH.com), said, “With the Paris 2024 Olympics only a few weeks away, we hope the APH guide will help UK visitors travelling to the Games plan ahead and make the necessary travel arrangements to their chosen venue.”
