2 May 2023 – Leading boutique hotel brand Sonas Collection has unveiled an impressive refurbishment across all three of its properties on the Isle of Skye, setting new standards for luxury accommodation on the West coast of Scotland.
Inspired by the local landscape, the natural environment and owner Anne Gracie Gunn’s personal love of the sea, each property has been designed with an elegant and modern twist unlike any other hotel on the Isle of Skye.
Working in partnership with local suppliers and designing the bespoke furniture herself with Scottish-based business Select Contract Furniture, Anne’s passion for the outdoors and cultural flair can be seen throughout the decor from sailing-inspired wallpaper to lush, brightly coloured floral furnishings. Embracing the comforts of authentic Highland style, each hotel features opulent log fireplaces, and elegant furnishings such as bespoke leather headboards and handwoven Harris tweed.
Guests staying at the 150-year-old former Victorian Hunting lodge Skeabost House Hotel can look forward to a bright and colourful palate inspired by the natural environment in the Sea View and Garden rooms. The renovations include two additional Deluxe rooms at Toravaig House Hotel and the nautical inspired Chart Bar at Duisdale House Hotel, perfect for enjoying afternoon tea or sampling a local whisky, while taking in breath-taking views of Skye’s Southern Sleat Peninsula.
Anne Gracie Gunn, Sonas Collection Owner said, “Covid was a difficult time for everyone, particularly the hospitality industry, however we decided it was an opportunity to renovate after seeing an increasing demand for luxury, boutique accommodation on Skye. It was hugely important to showcase the wonderful Skye landscape through the interior design and furnishings, while also staying true to the hotels’ unique characters and delivering luxurious comfort to our guests. This is the largest refurbishment we’ve undertaken and I’m hugely proud of the transformation our three beautiful boutique properties have undergone.”
Almost 20 years on from Anne opening her first property Toravaig House Hotel, Sonas Collection has become one of Scotland’s most successful small hotel groups and the largest hospitality employer on the Isle of Skye, a byword for the excellence of hospitality in the Hebrides.
