Madhya Pradesh Tourism brought the jungles of India to the UK last week during a three-city UK summer roadshow.

The UK roadshow, which took place from 12th – 14th June in the cities of Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, provided leading travel companies from each city with the opportunity to meet with the tourism board and network with other partners from the state in central India.

Hosted by the Deputy Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism, Mr Yuvraj Padole, the evening was attended by representatives from travel companies across the UK, including Thomas Cook, Flight Centre, Kuoni and Travel Counsellors. Guests were provided with a welcome drink and canapés on arrival before listening to an informative presentation on Madhya Pradesh’s tourism offerings from Mr Padole. Attendees were also treated to arts and crafts gifts from the state and holiday prizes were awarded during the evening events, with one agent from each city lucky enough to win a hosted fam trip to Madhya Pradesh for attendance at the fifth Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart, taking place from 5th – 7th October 2018.

Madhya Pradesh, located in the heart of India, is the second largest state in the country. More than one third of the state is covered in forests and is rightly known as “the tiger state” thanks to it being home to 25 wildlife sanctuaries, ten national parks and six tiger reserves. The state is already firmly established as one of the foremost tourism destinations in India and the past few years have seen several award-winning campaigns that have helped boost its awareness among international travellers.

Mr Yuvraj Padole, Deputy Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism, said, “It has been a pleasure to meet with so many representatives from the UK’s travel companies during our roadshow events and provide them with information on why Madhya Pradesh should be on everyone’s travel list this year. While Madhya Pradesh is known as the ‘tiger state’, the region is also home to many species of animals, an abundance of impressive monuments and three UNESCO World Heritage sites. We look forward to welcoming more travel trade and UK travellers to our amazing state very soon.”

Partners of the roadshow from Madhya Pradesh included Mr Jitender Sharma from Consortium Hotels, Aisling Rasekh from Pugdundee Resorts, Mr S. Mahalingaiah from Skyway Tours and Mr Dipesh Saral from Luxury India Travels.

The UK is one of the most important inbound markets for India, with over 800,000 British national visiting the country every year. In May 2018, the UK was the third top source country for foreign arrivals to India and British tourists represented 6.98% of the total tourist arrivals.
