Home to the 2018 Super Bowl champions and no less than seven professional sports teams, Philadelphia is a metropolis for premier sporting events and this September, the city is set to welcome fans from across the world for an exciting month of sport.

Visitors to the city this autumn can see the top 70 golf players compete at the BMW Championship from 4th – 9th September or cheer on runners at the quirky and lively Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series from 15th – 16th September. For American football fans, the Philadelphia Eagles, the defending Super Bowl champions, will play the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL) Kickoff Game on 6th September at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field. Budding Eagles fans can then continue their support for the team back home too, since the team will head to London’s Wembley stadium on 28th October to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The month of September will also see the Philadelphia Phillies push forward for a potential place in the Major League Baseball’s World Series Playoffs and a number of themed nights will be hosted at the team’s Citizens Bank Park.

2018 BMW Championship in Philadelphia: 4th – 9th September 2018
The 2018 BMW Championship will bring a field of the top 70 players in the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs to Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, from 4th – 9th September 2018. Just 40 minutes from Philadelphia, Aronimink Golf Club was named as one of the Top 100 Platinum Clubs of the World in 2017 and this year will mark the first year the Championship has been contested in the state of Pennsylvania. Players, including defending champion Marc Leishman, will compete to secure their place at the season-ending TOUR Championship, which will take place in Atlanta later in September. NFL Kickoff Game at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field: 6th September 2018
The 99th season of the National Football League (NFL) will begin on 6th September 2018 and the official Kickoff Game will be hosted by the defending Super Bowl LII champions, Philadelphia’s very own Eagles. Travellers can head to Lincoln Financial Field to watch the Eagles take on the Atlanta Falcons in what is set to be an electrifying evening of sport, championship celebration and quintessential state-side entertainment. The Eagles will also become the first defending champions to play in London, when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium on 28 October 2018. Philadelphia Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon: 15th – 16th September 2018
For over 20 years, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series has made running fun by infusing each course with live bands, cheer teams and more. The event will host half-marathon, 10K and 5K races, with routes including views of iconic landmarks such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Independence Hall and City Hall. Since 1998, event weekends have culminated with finish line concert featuring the biggest names in music, with past performers including Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pitbull, Goo Goo Dolls, All-American Rejects, Flo-Rida, Train and Lady Antebellum. Philadelphia Phillies Games in September 2018
Baseball is a true American sport and the city of Philadelphia is home to the mighty Phillies, who play at the city’s open-air Citizens Bank Park. With the baseball season ending on 30th September, the Phillies’ performance throughout September could help secure a valuable place in the World Series Playoffs, which commence in October. For sport with a twist, the Phillies will also host several themed games throughout September, including a discounted Grandparents Day on 16th September, a Band Night on 17th September and the 12th annual Irish Heritage Celebration night on 18th September, which will include Irish delicacies, live music and dance.
