This Spring, plan a Cotswolds getaway in the charming village of Oddington that the whole family will enjoy, including the dog.

The Horse & Groom Village Inn has all the Cotswolds stay essentials. Charming historic building? Tick. This is a 16th century Inn and the oldest working inn in the Cotswolds. Then there’s local ales on tap, an appealing gastropub menu, original Cotswold-stone fireplaces, and a relaxed yet spacious dining area. Oh, and cosy bedrooms resplendent with textured rugs and snug throws, plus countless beautiful walking trails on the doorstep.

And yet the Horse & Groom Village Inn has so much more to offer, thanks to its owners’ passion for pooches. From the dog-friendly welcome (dogs are usually greeted before owners), to the complimentary dog beds, biscuits and blankets for dogs accompanying hotel and dining guests, the Horse & Groom Village Inn is authentic Cotswolds with a canine twist. The whole Inn is dog-friendly, and three guests rooms are designated for dogs and their owners.

The village of Oddington offers plenty of walks and open fields for dogs to go off-lead. And the Inn’s large garden with babbling brook is perfect for dogs to have a light swim in to cool off after a long walk.

Civil partners Norman Liu and Warren Turner took over the running of the Horse & Groom in 2019, and have lovingly restored the Inn to resurrect its natural charm and attract a new type of holidaymaker to the Cotswolds. That is, those that love the great outdoors, great ales, historic buildings, and yet do not wish to compromise on comfort or delightful cuisine – or leave their much-loved pooch at home.

As the Horse & Groom Village Inn is independently owned by Norman and Warren, they have been able to deliver a unique Cotswolds experience as they are involved in every aspect of the running of the Inn, and will often be found chatting to diners most evenings, or pulling pints behind the bar and recommending local ales.

Norman adds; “This Spring, our two-legged and four-legged friends can expect a warm welcome at The Horse & Groom Village Inn. It’s the perfect time to take advantage of the clement weather and enjoy the many Cotswolds walking trails accessible from our doorstep. Our garden is completely enclosed and has its own stream, which our dog visitors love. And as a whisky and ale aficionado, I love nothing more than recommending other local landmarks like breweries and distilleries to Inn guests that enjoy exploring the stellar Cotswold drinks scene as much as I do.”

“Spring is the best season in the Cotswolds, and I look forward to welcoming new furry friends to the Horse &Groom Village Inn and adding them to our doggie wall of fame!”

Room rates in February at the Horse & Groom Village Inn start from £99 for a Standard Double room. To book, or to find out more, visit www.horseandgroomcotswolds.co.uk.
