As part of the £1 billion Manchester Airport Transformation Programme*, travellers commuting to Terminal 2 can expect alterations to their journey over the next couple of years including changes to the passenger pick-up and drop-off locations. To help holidaymakers avoid any potential delays on their way to the airport or in the terminal itself, Airport Parking and Hotels (APH) has put together a table highlighting these changes and has also created a handy infographic sharing top tips when travelling through the airport.
Available in the Know Before You Go section of the APH website at www.aph.com/ManchesterAirport, the table highlights the recent developments at the airport including the newly located T2 departures forecourt, the cost for drop-off and pick-up parking within the short stay multi-storey +car park as well as roadworks and diversions drivers may incur during their journey.
For those who wish to drop-off loved ones at Manchester airport, drivers are no longer able to drop-off in the departures forecourt and now must use the new location found on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park. Drop-off remains free of charge, however drivers should be aware that temporary parking is permitted for luggage unloading only. Alternatively, for a longer farewell, drivers may use the T2 short stay multi-storey car park, where charges vary from £4 for up to 30 minutes to £40 for 24 hours.
Drivers looking to pick-up returning travellers will be directed to the short stay multi-storey car park where charges are the same, however drivers should be aware there are no quick, free drop-off zones available for pick-ups and may be fined for parking in the drop-off zone. Alternatively, travellers who are arriving or departing by bus should note that if travelling north along Wilmslow Road from the Airport tunnels, bus stops have been relocated and a footpath diversion has been implemented. For those travelling by coach, drop-off and pick-ups are not affected and will continue to transfer passengers to and from the airport station.
Travellers planning a longer stay can choose to park at the long stay car park, which costs from £32 for 24 hours to £102 for seven days. Alongside this, travellers can opt to pre-book off-airport parking with APH, where one weeks’ parking costs from £29.83**.
To help savvy travellers guarantee a smooth and stress-free journey, the infographic also highlights top tips and key precautions to take whilst travelling through the airport including suggested arrival times for domestic, European and international flights. Other handy tips include how to speed up your check-in and security screening process and the precautions travellers should take when packing hand luggage and travelling with electricals.
