South Indian Trails, a group of eight carefully selected boutique hotels and resorts located across the southern region of India, brought South India to the UK this week during a travel trade roadshow.

The roadshow, which took place from 27 – 29 June across Glasgow, Cardiff and London, provided the opportunity for leading travel companies from each city to meet with representatives from South Indian Trails, as well as the chance to win a holiday to this iconic region.

Attendees, including Tailor Made Travel, Barrhead Travel, STA Travel, Travelbag, Hays Travel and Those Travel Guys, were provided with a welcome drink and canapés on arrival before enjoying a brief welcome introduction to the South Indian Trails team which was followed by one-on-one appointments with each hotel partner.

Southern India boasts a rich historical and cultural past, made up of long coastlines on the east and west as well as the Western and Eastern Ghat mountain ranges and a stunning variety of wildlife and exotic fauna. South India provides a stark contrast to North India, with iconic regions such as Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, as well as some of the most beautiful beaches in India.

Mr Abraham George, Chairman and Managing Director of Intersight Tours & Travels said, “The UK is an extremely important inbound market to South India and we felt the roadshow was a great opportunity to update the UK travel industry on the diverse tourism products available in the region. The events were a great success and as a result, we look forward to further strengthening our relationship with the British travel trade industry.”

Attendees on the roadshow from South Indian Trails included Eastend Hotels (Lakesong) in Kumarakom, Crowne Plaza-Kochi in Kochi, JC Residency in Madurai, Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel in Kovalam, Hoysala Village Resorts in Hassan, Vythiri Village in Wayanad, Carmelia Haven Resort in Vandanmedu and Chandy’s Windy Woods in Munnar.

The UK is one of the most important inbound markets for India, with over 900,000 British nationals visiting India each year including an 8.6% increase in 2016 compared to 2015*.
